ITC wanted to create a special edition matchbox that celebrated India’s 75th year of independence. The experience was to feel celebratory, as well as reflective of the rich and deep layers of history being commemorated.

Matchboxes play an essential part in the everyday lives of Indians, who have witnessed their country’s growth milestones one after another, since independence. We were tasked to create a collectible, elegant box embellished with ethnic art elements to evoke pride and joy.
Outcome
Upon opening the box, you’re led to discover this path through 75 reprinted matchboxes designed with iconic elements from past ITC matchboxes and brought alive in a vintage and heritage look, showcasing the glorious journey of free India.
